We decided to make as much use as possible of the Hurtwood House school seeing that it had to seem like a school as much as possible. We shot the scene in the boys shower room and the boys bathroom.
We changed ideas of locations often because the initial idea was to shoot the sequence in an elegant house with a bright, white bathroom, however, since we did not have access to such a location, we thought about shooting in one of the boarding houses which had long corridors and nice bathrooms. We then decided that it would have been easier and time saving to shoot on location. This is when we changed our location in general: we went from the idea of a house to a school. For the corridors, we used the school basement corridor which had pipes on the wall which gives a scary effect, this is the location where the actress walks through to then go up the stairs. To make it seem as if the stairs led up to a main boarding house corridor, we shot her feet going up the stairs and then cut to her walking in the same pace and position as before but a different corridor and keeping camera movement the same.
